Pat Smith is The Bailey & Oliver Law Firm’s paralegal in the Mountain Home office. Seven years ago Pat responded to a Baxter Bulletin newspaper ad regarding an administrative assistant job opening with Bailey Law Firm. Frank Bailey hired Pat and she fell in love with the legal field. To increase her understanding of the law she enrolled at Arkansas State University and became a paralegal. Frank is proud to have Pat on his team, “When Pat first joined our team she had practically no experience as a legal assistant. Her enthusiasm and dedication propelled her to become a star. Soon Pat completed a paralegal course and became a certified paralegal. Now Pat spends much of her time just talking to clients and holding their hand through their difficult moments. Pat truly exemplifies the Bailey and Oliver core values of integrity, courage, and hard work.”In turn, Frank’s star talks about Bailey & Oliver Law Firm in saying’ “I love the challenge of working every detail of the case, then obtaining justice for harms done against our clients.”

Pat is not only driven in her work, she is blessed with a wonderful family. She was born into a large family with four sisters. Pat grew up in the small central Arkansas town of McRae and was very fortunate to be raised by amazing parents. Pat’s father is the person she looks up to most in the world. She says, “He taught me so many life lessons, he is my hero!” One of the most important decisions she ever made was to let Jesus Christ guide her life, which explains why her favorite book is the Bible. Her favorite scripture is I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me – Philippians 4:13 and her favorite song is Amazing Grace. Pat’s family has grown to include her husband and two children. Both her daughter and son are married and have blessed her family with four grandsons. Pat’s happiest times are spent with her family and watching her grandson’s play baseball.

Pat’s passion is to work with children, especially children who have been neglected or who have suffered from abuse. One of Pat’s goals in life is to be a court appointed special advocate also known as C.A.S.A volunteer.

Pat enjoys the outdoors and loves watching wildlife in her backyard. Typical visitors include turkey and deer. On a Saturday you could find Pat hiking from early morning until sun down. Her two favorite vacations were to Yellowstone National Park and the Northeastern US in the fall. One day Pat hopes to travel across the United States in an RV and enjoy all its beauty. She also dreams of vacationing in Ireland for an extended period of time.

Favorites

         Movie- “It’s a Wonderful Life”

         Food- Italian

Restaurant – Jo Jo’s Catfish Warf in Mountain View

         Sport – Baseball

         Color – Red

         Holiday – Christmas

We are so lucky to have Pat as a part of our Bailey & Oliver family. Pat says the best advice she has received was, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” On a daily basis this is exactly how she lives her life with her co-workers and clients. Pat is extraordinary with her clients, she says, “I love working with our clients and sometimes just being their listening ear. Many times, even after cases are settled or judgment has been awarded at trial, our clients continue to stay in touch with us.” Becky Nowlin, the Bailey & Oliver Law Firm’s office manager, says, “I can remember the day Pat came to our office to interview for the job just like it was yesterday. She was so nervous and didn’t think she would get the job. As soon as I met her I felt comfortable around her and knew that we would be able to work well together. Little did I know that she would become more than just a co-worker to me. We have become great friends over the past seven years and often joke about how each of us feel more like sisters. We have many things in common through our families. I think of Pat as part of my family and she is very precious to me. Pat takes her position as a paralegal with Bailey & Oliver Law Firm very seriously and strives to do the very best job when working on each case. She is a very caring person and our client’s feel comfortable working with her. She makes each of them feel important and it doesn’t matter who they are or what their story is she is always willing to listen to them. I can’t imagine Bailey & Oliver Firm without Pat.”

Thank you Pat Smith for all of your hard work and kind heart!
